For more than twenty years I have been hopping between Tel Aviv and Essen. Enjoying all the worlds. Live here, live there, work here, work there, house here, house there. “Here” and “there” change every few months. Light and pleasant, an object of envy. Two houses and one waiting husband.
Suddenly, difficult and shocking events happened. The world is no longer what it used to be: the corona virus, the current Israeli politics… we have been attacked by existential anxiety. One explosive night, Itamar and I (14 years already together) decided to close the house in Tel Aviv and permanently, to flower the house in Essen. Here the ground started to shake. But what has already happened?
where am I? who am I? what am I? Why not here? Why not there? Where am I a tourist? where is my house?
Do I go to the house or does the house go with me? What am I running from? Where do I run to? Oh, the wandering Jew?
There are no clear answers. I am restless and often get lost. I was told that the soul only arrives some time after landing. I managed to confuse her too.
We decided to take the initiative, to reduce our reality in Germany in this small room in the gallery, to bring the small details, to share with you the audience. Theater has always been my language. Itamar’s too.
We look forward to meeting you. Maybe then something will happen. Maybe when we are there with you, we will suddenly know something new together. We will be happy to host you in our room. Accommodation as usual, considering the existing circumstances.
